Robert Lee Petrosh of Mays Landing was sentenced Friday for his role in the Capitol insurrection.
, 52, was also fined $1,000 and ordered to pay $938 in restitution for his share of the damages caused by the riot at the U.S. Capitol building on Jan. 6, 2021. Petrosh is subject to one year of supervised release when he completes his prison sentence, under terms of a plea agreement with the U.S. District Attorney’s Office in the District of Columbia.
While inside the Capitol, “the defendant smoked a cigarette and knowingly stole both microphones from a lectern that were property of the United States belonging to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi,” the statement said. The FBI received its first anonymous tip about Petrosh four days after the riot. A week later came a second tip: this time from“The [informant] stated that his grandmother is good friends with Petrosh’s mother, and that Petrosh’s mother told the [informant’s] grandmother that Petrosh went inside the Capitol building on Jan. 6,” the U.S. District Attorney’s Office said in a statement submitted to the U.S. District Court.
