The United boss is trying to ensure his Championship leaders finish off the job and return to the Scottish Premiership.
Jim Goodwin has admitted he can’t offer new contracts until he knows what league Dundee United will be in next season.
The loans of Alex Grieve, Jordan Tillson and Jack Walton are also up in the summer, as are the deals of youngsters Lewis O’Donnell, Miller Thomson, Craig Moore and Layton Bisland. Goodwin said: “The players understand the situation. I have had conversations with them but we are not in a position to offer anybody a contract because we need to find out where we will be as a club next season.
Midfielder Craig Sibbald has triggered an extension but terms on that have still to be finalised while this summer Australian keeper Mark Birighitti will finally part ways with United. The Taysiders are top on goal difference but know they could put real distance between themselves and Raith Rovers over the next two games. Raith don’t have a game this weekend and then travel to Tannadice the week after.
Goodwin has urged the United fans to come out and play their part in the promotion push. He knows he and his players owe them and they are looking for redemption after their Dunfermline disaster on Friday night.
