The Government department is advertising a host of new Customer Service Advisor jobs in the city. The permanent roles will be based at HMRC's existing offices in St Mary's House and St Mark's House, off Ringway.
"You'll be the first point of contact for our customers, providing a first-rate service by telephone, email or web chat."The job advert adds: "We work a variety of shifts between 7:45am and 8pm, Monday to Saturday, to make sure we can help customers when they need us. You will work a maximum of one late shift per week and a maximum of 6 Saturdays each year.
The new roles come after HMRC performed a U-turn last week over its helpline closure following an unexpected "strength of feeling". The tax authority announced in March that the phone line would be closed between April and September, only to reverse the decision within 24 hours and keep it open.
