Federal transportation officials plan to announce dozens of cities and communities selected for grants under the infrastructure law.
On Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Transportation awarded a community group run by descendants of that community — those who were displaced and those who remain — a $2 million grant to develop detailed plans to reverse some of the damage.
