HPD units responded to reports of an assault in progress in the 8100 block of Edgemoor Drive around 9:20 p.m.
According to investigators, it was reported that a mother arrived home with her two children, ages 4 and 5, when her ex-boyfriend was hiding in the shadows and quickly approached her. He then got into a physical altercation with the mother and her new boyfriend, HPD said. Police said the mother’s vehicle was turned on and parked along the curb. The ex-boyfriend then jumped into the car and drove off with the children inside, HPD said.
Officers said the ex-boyfriend was texting a person that they both know and wanted to drop the children off at a location without police presence. FOX and patrol officers reportedly searched multiple locations for the vehicle and the air unit located the vehicle.
