Harrisburg police are investigating two additional overdose deaths in the city Sunday morning, bring the weekend total number of deaths to six.City spokesman Matt Maisel said the first man was in his 20s, found in the 700 block of North 16th Street in Allison Hill. The age for the second man was unknown. He was found in the 2600 block of North 6th Street in uptown.
In all, five men and one woman died in overdoses this weekend that police suspect could be connected to fentanyl laced within illegal drugs that the victims weren’t expecting.The majority of this weekend’s victims were between their early 40s and early 60s, police said. The majority of the 63 people who died in drug overdoses last year in the city also were older than 40.
The types of drugs involved in Sunday’s overdose deaths were not known. On Saturday, county officials said fentanyl was detected in initial tests connected to crack cocaine and synthetic drugs.to update residents on the series of overdoses as well as an ongoing manhunt after a neighborhood shooting.
