2 teens arrested in stabbing death of homeless man in Mission Beach park [Breaking]
The victim was identified as Michael Shook, police said Sunday. He was found mortally wounded about 6:20 a.m. Wednesday at Bonita Cove Park.
Police said detectives learned he had been involved in a fight with five or six males and females in their late teens or early 20s.Shook was beaten and stabbed, and suffered injuries to his face and other parts of his upper body, police said. Late Friday night, Daniel Martin was arrested during a traffic stop on Sea World Drive near West Morena Boulevard and booked into county jail on suspicion of murder in the killing of Shook, police said.
The younger suspect was arrested Sunday afternoon at San Diego police headquarters after he agreed to surrender, police said. He was booked into Juvenile Hall and was also accused of murder. His name was not released because he is a minor. Lt. Steve Shebloski said detectives interviewed witnesses, collected evidence and reviewed surveillance video “from the surrounding area.” During the investigation, they identified Martin and the other teen as suspects.Anyone with information about the case was asked to call detectives at 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 580-8477.
