How does singer, actress, and model Suki Waterhouse prepare to perform for a sold-out crowd at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles? It’s a multi-step process that naturally starts off with a latte—and visual proof of the toll that being on tour has taken on her closet. “This poor jacket was in such gorgeous condition,” she laments, referring to a tear in the lining of her fluffy, orange-red coat. When you’re taking your act on the road , things can get a little rough-and-tumble.
After her morning coffee, Waterhouse heads off to a fitting for the press tour surrounding the release of, the Taylor Jenkins Reid novel-turned-Amazon-miniseries that debuted this month. “I’m obsessed,” Waterhouse marvels as she dons an enormous fur coat, before taking a quick break to eat what she describes as “a little bit of mashed potatoes” out of a plastic container.
As evening nears, she’s off to the venue for a quick look around, after which Waterhouse grants us a private tour of her bus, admitting, “Nothing’s been cleaned for a long time.” A pre-show dinner is held at Clark Street Diner, the trendy L.A. comfort-food restaurant du jour, before Waterhouse greets her friends Camila Morrone and Phoebe Tonkin backstage at the Fonda. Then, it’s showtime. With a last-minute reapplication of her eye gems, the star is ready to charm the crowd.
