Few new details in Saturday's fatal shooting involving Columbus police, sheriff's deputy

Nearly three days after a shooting involving Columbus police officers and a Franklin County Sheriff's deputy left a man dead on the city's East Side, few new details have been released.The shootingThe situation began when a man approached a Franklin County deputy who was working a special assignment at Walgreens, 3015 E. Livingston Ave. The man told the deputy there was a second man outside who was after him and fired gunshots.

Columbus police officers who were in the area also went to the scene, knowing the deputy was under fire, Deputy Chief Tim Myers said Saturday. The man was pronounced dead at 8:25 p.m. Saturday at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center. No officers or deputies were injured.
