The boy fell from the Taino Towers complex in the East Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan.
Police said the child landed on the fifth-floor scaffolding of the building, according to the television station.
The victim was taken by emergency medical technicians to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead,“They said that a child fell from the 29th floor and I started crying,” Thelma Rollins, a neighbor, told“Then all of a sudden, you hear a thump … like a boom!” the woman told the television station.
The police were trying to determine how the child fell and whether he was with an adult at the time, a NYPD spokesperson said.
