A large wildfire in Anchorage has closed down multiple roads, according to Anchorage Fire Department Assistant Chief Alex Boyd. The fire is in the area of Dowling and Elmore roads. Boyd said both roads are closed near the intersection.
A large tanker aircraft was also deployed to the fire to drop retardant.
“Westbound traffic is closed at Elmore and Dowling. Southbound Elmore traffic is closed between Tudor and Dowling. Northbound traffic is closed at Martin Luther King and Tudor Center Dr. 68th and Elmore is closed,” Anchorage police wrote of the traffic impacts.The AFD has set up an emergency operations line for public information about the fire. It can be reached at 907-343-4701.A four-acre fire is burning near Dowling Road and Elmore Road.
