The Everton legend has already been on the blower trying to source loans to bolster his new squad.
He's only just arrived in the Highlands, but Duncan Ferguson is already planning to add to his new Inverness Caledonian Thistle squad.
"Yes, we can get them from the Scottish Prem and we have some boys that out out of contract," he said. "I've already been on to one or two of the Scottish managers and I spoke to Brendan this morning, so he's going to help me out, hopefully! We'll look and see if we can identify some players, and we'll take it from there."
The Scottish Championship may seem like a massive step down for the Irish international, but the 32-year-old's options are limited. He does of course, have a pre-existing relationship with Big Dunc. Ferguson was first team coach at Goodison for a good chunk of McCarthy's six years on Merseyside, and a stint in the Highlands to get match fit could benefit both parties.
Dane Murray Murray looked to be on the path to becoming a first team squad regular when Ange Postecoglou turned to the young centre back early in his Parkhead reign. He was part of the squad that lost in the Champions League qualifier to FC Midtjylland after featuring regularly during that year's pre-season campaign.
