Thelin will take up the reins at Pittodrie on June 3, and may be tempted to return to his homeland to try and bolster his Dons squad for next season.
It may have taken longer than they had liked, but Aberdeen have got their new manager in place for next season with Jimmy Thelin arriving in the Granite City from Elfsborg in early June.
More recently, former Iceland star Kari Arnason enjoyed two stints in the Granite City between 2011 and 2018, while Finland's Richard Jensen and Danish defender Stefan Gartenmann form part of the current Dons back line. Thelin won't be coming to Pittodrie alone, with his two assistants Christer Persson and Emir Bajrami also making the move from Elfsborg.
Former Sweden U21 international Tornqvist huge frame would give Aberdeen some much needed physical presence in their own box, having conceded far too many goals from set pieces this season. However, with the player contracted at Mjallby until December 2026, the Allsvenskan side will not be willing to part with their keeper on the cheap, with transfermarkt valuing Tornqvist at around £775,000.
