Shaun Aguano met with the media Monday afternoon, less than 24 hours being named interim head coach of the Arizona State football program.
proved to be the last straw for the embattled coach who was hired in December of 2017 by his good friend, athletic director Ray Anderson.
There was a definite air of sincerity from Aguano, who teared up a couple of times when talking about how much the opportunity to lead the program meant to him. Aguano says he takes pride in being from Arizona, raising a family here and having served as a head coach here. He expects the relationships he developed in his time at Chandler, both with fellow coaches and athletes, to go a long way toward attracting local athletes. At the same time he says they must also be the right fit and be the type of athlete the Sun Devils need to compete against top tier schools.
