After some heavy defeats in Europe's premier competition last season, it was a familiar feeling for Gers in the playoff.

But they could have been ahead as the clock approached the 20 minute mark. Johan Bakayoko - linked with a string of top European clubs before the window closes - swung in a cross from the right and De Jong sent his header wide when the skipper should have done so much better despite being under pressure from three Rangers defenders.
But the Philips Stadion erupted 10 minutes before the break as the deadlock was crucially broken. PSV worked the ball well down the left as the ball was fed to Veerman and he hung a cross in the air perfectly for Saibari who got in front of John Souttar to send a close range header beyond a helpless Butland.
Rabbi Matondo was the width of the post away from pulling Rangers back into it again after a brilliant mazy run but the Wales winger smacked the woodwork.
