Writer Catherine Lux moved back to Western Australia to rediscover her work/life balance
Australia may be the home of delicious sweet treats like Tim Tams and fairy bread, but it’s also famous for its outdoor lifestyle, a focus on healthy, organic food and a $9.5 billion wellness industry. After living in Perth as a teenager, I returned to Australia in 2016, in part due to my love for Western Australia, and partly because I just needed a break from my hectic London life.
But you don’t need to move across the world to find balance - visit Western Australia and you’ll experience it for yourself from the moment you arrive. Here’s why it makes the ideal holiday destination for anyone looking to restore and recharge.Western Australia alone has over 12,000 kms of coastline, allowing you to hit the beach whenever you want.
One of my favourite ways to get in some exercise was to walk from my local beach at Floreat in Perth, up to Scarborough Beach and back in the evenings. Despite walking 6km, it never felt like an effort because I was spending an hour walking along a beautiful shoreline, while watching the sun descend over the Indian Ocean.
