“The atmosphere was brilliant. We would absolutely love to be there again next year”
Over that period organisers Pete Sweetmore and Barry Hyde have essentially coordinated events and activities organised by others which have culminated in a massive valley-wide festival. As part of a relaunch of the festival, the organisers teamed up with Tony Nixon, Director and station manager of Rossendale Radio and came up with the concept of ‘Sixties On The Square’.
All were praised by those attending as exceptional. Local sponsorship was sought to raise funds for the event in return for raising their profile within the community and beyond. Although this is the first year of the Sixties On The Square event, the organisers feel that they have set a very high standard which will create high expectations for next year, and with such positive feedback from the community, groups and businesses they are determined to exceed those expectations.
All of the sponsors of this year’s event are local businesses and organisations and engage with the event both as raising their profile and supporting a valuable community event.
Tracy from Rossendale Responsible Animal Rescue said: “We had a great time and actually sold out with our tombola.“The atmosphere was brilliant. We would absolutely love to be there again next year.”
