Joel Embiid addressed the James Harden blockbuster trade on Thursday night.
’s top sidekick for the last season and a half was moved didn’t come as a surprise. After all, Harden publicly acknowledged his trade request on numerous occasions.
“I hope we both make the finals, and he's on the losing side of it, and we’re on the winning side of it,” Embiid said with a smile. “Just like I said, I'm happy for him. He got what he wanted. Unfortunately, there was a lot of misunderstanding between people that were mentioned, but it's always good to see people happy.”
Embiid couldn’t recall a time when Harden might’ve expressed frustration with his role on the Sixers last season when the league assist leader admittedly felt restricted as a player. Chalking up The Beard’s comments as an indirect message to the Sixers’ previous coaching staff, Embiid didn’t seem fazed at all by the comments.
