Three new energy storage facilities worth $200 million each will be coming to the state soon.
The Woodlands, Tex.-based company is building new facilities in Pecos, Hidalgo and Comal counties that can store enough power for 280,000 homes during peak demand.

The storage facilities mostly operate remotely, with limited maintenance jobs onsite. However, Keefe said the effects are big. “Texas is the leading market for energy storage in the United States and it’s surprising to me that more people aren’t shouting from the rooftops for this,” Keefe said. “This is huge for jobs and economic development. In the same way that Texas was a leader in wind energy 15 years ago, we’re doing the same by having clear market signals that allow for long-term investments.”.
