"I've been spending a lot of time outdoors since I have two little kids," Koon says. "Every chance we can get out, we're getting out." Seeing petals everywhere while she's taking in fresh air inspired her to put together a summery look with a nod to nature.with a colorful assortment of dried flowers and made them look like they were encased in glass. "People used to not want to see a fake tip, but they are having more fun with that now," she notes.
Before gluing the tips to her nails, Koon adhered the flowers to the underside of the round extensions. Only having them on the top of the nails created the illusion of the French manicure's signature shape without the traditional crisp curves. Placing the flowers underneath the tips instead of on top also gave them the stunning see-through effect. Then, Koon put them on, shaped them, and sealed them with clear gel.
