MEDINA, Ohio -- On a hot, sunny Sunday, the Medina County Historical Society hosted an affordable, family-friendly community ice cream social at the historic McDowell-Phillips House Museum, 205 S. Prospect St.
Huntington Bank’s ice cream truck, hosted by commercial banker Kevin Rych, offered ice cream and frozen fruit bars at the community gathering Sunday at the McDowell-Phillips House Museum. Volunteers also served generous slices of pie and ice cream, and a popcorn machine cranked out cups of the tasty treat -- all for free.A crew from Medina Morning Kiwanis is helping the Medina County Historical Society restore this 1942 War Bonds building.
Inside the building, some trim and shelves will be added to make it a useful display of items from the “Greatest Generation.” The critical role that war bonds played in helping the United States win World War II will be explained in the display.
