Android 16 almost destroyed the universe.
Every Dragon Ball Super fan remembers that Universe 7 won the Tournament of Power and, because of Android 17 and his victory wish, all the universes that had been obliterated by the King of All came back to life. However, it took some convincing from Goku for 17 to join the Universe 7 team, and if he didn't, things would have been a lot different.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT In Dragon Ball Super chapter #31, Goku attempts to persuade Android 17 to partake in the Tournament of Power as Universe 7 struggles to find 10 warriors. The android initially refuses because, ever since the end of the Cell Games, he has dedicated his life to being a ranger and protecting a wildlife reserve on a remote island, which is constantly threatened by poachers.
This is important because it means that 17 witnessed the moment of Android 16's death, and while 17 was later resurrected with the Dragon Balls, 16 was not, most likely due to the fact that he was a fully artificial being. In chapter #407 of Dragon Ball, a decapitated 16 speaks to Gohan to convince the boy that it's okay to get angry and fight. At the end of his speech, 16 finally beseeches Gohan to protect the nature he loved so much.
Android 16's Kindness Almost Prevented 17 From Saving The Universe Android 17's reformation takes on a much deeper meaning in the context of his desire to fulfill Android 16's dying wish. Not only 17 became good, he also dedicated his life to the protection of nature which 16 loved so much. However, it is exactly that dedication that almost made 17 skip the Tournament of Power.
