The three-story mansion in San Antonio's Monte Vista area was once owned by powerful oilman Clint Murchison, whose son established the Dallas Cowboys NFL franchise. SanAntonio SATX SanAntonioTX DallasCowboys NFL Texas TexasHistory
If that name sounds familiar, it may be because Murchison was one of the most powerful businessmen in the country in the early 1900s. It could be because Murchison's son, Clint Jr., founded the NFL's Dallas Cowboys franchise in 1960.
Famous owners aside, the 5,400-square-foot neoclassical home has other interesting history. Namely, it was built in 1903 across the street from its original location, then moved to its current spot a decade later — prior to Murchison's purchase. The five-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bath property looks no worse for the wear despite its dramatic shift in location. Its wraparound front porch and two balconies are framed by dramatic pillars make it one of the most striking houses on either side of its street. The renovated interior features high ceilings, intricate moldings, stained glass and a fully renovated kitchen.
