A Houston park named for the Tejano star Selena is getting a $1 million makeover, with new playgrounds, swings and football goal posts.
On HoustonChronicle.com:Selena Quintanilla Perez-Denver Harbor Park, at Market and Gazin streets, also will get a new parking lot and repaired trail, new lighting and tables, benches and drinking fountains. The football field will be extended to 100 yards and get new goal posts for a league that uses the field, along with a new backstop and improved area for T-ball. The playgrounds will include two units: one for children ages 2 to 5, and another for ages 5 to 12.
It also may include new restroom facilities and upgrades to the concession building if there is enough money. The makeover is the latest of several upgrades to the park and its immediate surroundings, including the recent renovations to the Denver Harbor Pool. Council separately voted last year to
