"But that's not all. Our own NLRB bosses will soon make our jobs even harder by restricting our ability to work remotely," the union continued."Starting 12/26, Abruzzo "Run the agency with respect, not rigidity. Stop hard bargaining and simply let us do our work!" the union urged."Fund the NLRB. Support our staff. Protect the agency's mission."
While"the number of full-time staff has dropped from over 1,700 to around 1,200" since 2010,"there has not been a corresponding decrease in the agency's workload," Cook pointed out."Instead, representation petitions and unfair labor practice [ULP] charges have proliferated. From FY 2014 to FY 2022, the number of ULP filings per field staffer increased 39%."

Business, Labor Groups Agree on $1.8B Unemployment Debt PlanBusiness and labor groups have agreed on a plan to erase a $1.8 billion debt in the Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund. Gov. J.B. Pritzker said Tuesday that a state budget surplus will pay off the debt. That includes $1.36 billion owed to the federal government. That money was borrowed during the COVID-19 pandemic when closed shops sent unemployment to levels not seen in 40 years. Another $450 million will go in the form of an interest-free loan which unemployment taxes on businesses will repay over the next 10 years. As businesses pay that back, money will be deposited into the state’s rainy day fund to help ensure stability during an economic downturn.
