Tony Gemignani of Tony's Pizza Napoletana has always thought San Francisco should have its own pizza festival.
“For the last eight years, there’s been a number of different pizza festivals in the US,” said Gemignani. “I’ve done New York, LA, Las Vegas. I’ve done quite a bit of them, and I’ve always thought San Francisco should have one.”
Gemignani said he'd been mulling over the idea for a while, but the pandemic put the idea on the back burner. Until now. “At the same time, I think adding a bagel and beer element to it isn’t that farfetched,” he said. “Bagels are having such a renaissance in the Bay Area, some pizza-makers make bagels, and I thought the three would combine well.”
