Prabal is adding author to his long list of accomplishments 📚
, Prabal's unique outlook on fashion and style has quickly set him apart from other designers over the past decade. Now, Prabal is adding "author" to his long list of accomplishments with a new coffee book, available now.
The self-titled book is filled with many highlight moments of Prabal's career: mood boards, design sketches, runway shots and behind the scenes photos comprise the pages of the book, as well as a forward written by Sarah Jessica Parker—aka Carrie Bradshaw herself. The coffee table book also includes a conversation between Prabal and Hanya Yanagihara .
In regards to Prabal, SJP writes, "In a shot but labor-intensive and diligent ten years, Prabal has accomplished what so many young and emerging designers long for. A reputation wrapped in goodwill, great affection, and endless admiration from colleagues, fellow designers, and his customers...He has created not just any brand, but a luxury brand with a soul."
In addition, Prabal shares many memories throughout the book, explaining his favorite and most popular designs to readers including when he dressed former first lady Michelle Obama, as well as Oprah. According to the press release, the book is a celebration of inclusivity, which is very on brand for Prabal. He immigrated to the United states from Nepal in 1999, longing to study fashion and become a designer. And despite the odds, he made that happen, launching his own label in 2009.
Prabal became more widely known in 2017 when he included an array of feminist messages across his clothing on the runway, printing phrases like "This is what a feminist looks like," "Voices for Change," and "Stronger in Color" on his t-shirts. The designer has been a prominent voice for change within the fashion community, and this coffee table book is his next step in doing so.
