But Beesley says niche dating apps are becoming more prominent in the marketplace. In 2018 he set up Gutsy Dating, specifically for people with digestive health issues and has now branched out into chronic illness. The platform now has more than 3,500 users. He believes people are looking for something different and more suited to their needs and preferences.
“During the early stages of developing the idea, we spoke to hundreds of people and found a desire among users—and women particularly—to take charge of their online identities,” Beesley says. “BARE is all about putting you in control of what you share.”
