The project has seen 34 miles of resurfacing laid, 3,400 road studs replaced and 43,000 metres of white lining painted
A 47-mile road repair project linking Northamptonshire to Leicestershire on the A5 has been completed. The National Highways resurfacing programme between Old Stratford and Atherstone started in February.
It has been carried out in seven phases which were due to be complete in mid-October. However, due to good progress being made, work on the main programme concluded in the early hours of Thursday .She said: "We are delighted to have made such good progress on this important project to provide people with a safer, smoother driving experience.
“There has been a strong collaborative approach on this project between us our contractors and local stakeholders impacted by the work, particularly on the major phase we completed this morning between the M69 and Hinckley where we were escorting upwards of 500 vehicles a night through our closures. "We’d like to thank them and other road users for their patience while we’ve carried out this vital work. Having the support of the residents, local authorities and businesses in the communities in which we work is always appreciated.”Some minor finishing works are now required which will cause minimal disruption to road users. There will be seven nights in total, with dates still to be confirmed.
