Classes at Aberdeen High School have been canceled Monday because of threats made on one of their social media accounts, Superintendent Jeffrey Thake announced Sunday evening.
All after-school activities and sports are canceled for Monday, as well.
Thake said students who might be anxious about the threats of an attack should speak to a counselor about the issue, prioritizing the mental health of their students. “We also are concerned about the mental well-being of our students and staff,” Thake said. “Any students who are experiencing anxiety as a result of this disturbing activity are encouraged to contact their school counselor or a trusted adult.”Anyone with information about the threats is asked to call the Aberdeen Police Department non-emergency line at 533-8765.
