Pro-choice groups have seen their base energized after restrictive abortion laws were passed in Alabama and Missouri.
As states including Alabama and Missouri have produced some of the most restrictive abortion laws in decades this week, pro-choice groups have seen a surge in donations, calls and online engagement from their galvanized base.
“I’m surprised at how many have come in,” she added. “Many of these women that are contacting us are of a certain age that remember when abortion was illegal, that suffered through illegal abortions or having family members that died because of an illegal abortion, and they’re frightened. They’re really scared.”The National Network of Abortion Funds received more than 12,000 donations totaling more than $262,000 since the Alabama ban passed, Vice reported, with the average donation running $22.
