Flat Iron wants 'the democratisation of great steak'
A London-born steakhouse chain is plotting a move to the north. Flat Iron has put in a licence application for a unit on Deansgate.
Though not approved yet, the consultation for the licence goes on until mid-May. Founded by Charlie Carroll in 2012, the restaurants aim to make ‘remarkable steak available to everyone’, with affordable prices.Opening first in Shoreditch, the chain has grown rapidly. It now has 12 branches in all across the capital, from Kensington to Spitalfields. The Manchester restaurant would be the first outside London.
The restaurants generally focus on one kind of steak primarily - the flat iron, or chuck steak, which while less tender than ribeyes or fillets, are cheaper but still full of flavour. A flat iron is £13, with sides including beef dripping chips at £4 and a crispy bone marrow and garlic mash, also at £4.
