Deer Park, La Porte ready for newest chapter to football rivalry
Erasmo Canales turns upfield, eyeing more yardage against the Bulldogs in the 2021 contest. He returns in an attempt to give the Deer just their third back-to-backs wins against the Bulldogs since 2000.There’s a new football sheriff down the street in that community they call La Porte, but it’ll be the same drama-filled, who’ll get the best of their rival showdown.
Kevin Berneathy is that new sheriff in the town by the bay, the same sheriff that ruled Pasadena ISD for four seasons as Dobie’s head coach, accumulating a 33-10 won-loss record and fashioning a perfect 16-0 ledger against the other PISD programs. “They’re talented with that new system and all that coming from Dobie. It looks like they’re doing similar things, but different. The first game always has some unknowns. They’ll have some things up their sleeve in a tough atmosphere and a tough place to play. It should be a great game and we look forward to it every year,” Deer Park head coach Austin Flynn said.
Both teams will likely be unveiling new talent at running back. The Deer will be looking for some large shoes to fill with the graduation of Alex Argueta, but Erasmo Canales returns for his second Bulldog meeting.
