After Mueller's statement, some 2020 Democrats call for impeachment, as others strengthen anti-Trump rhetoric.
In the minutes following special counsel Robert Mueller's public statement announcing the close of his investigation, a parade of 2020 Democratic presidential candidates weighed in with some calling for the impeachment of President Donald Trump and others taking a step further in calling for immediate charges to be brought against the current occupant of the White House.
Robert Mueller’s statement makes it clear: Congress has a legal and moral obligation to begin impeachment proceedings immediately. Last month she said"I believe Congress should take the steps toward impeachment," at a CNN town hall. Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, the first of the White House hopefuls to call for Trump's impeachment, asserted on Twitter,"Mueller’s statement makes clear what those who have read his report know: It is an impeachment referral, and it’s up to Congress to act. They should."
