The Olympian hopes her new podcast, foundation, and Dream Maternity movement can provide support for running moms.
Currently, Montaño is in the process of creating a 501, a charitable organization that allows people to make tax-exempt donations to support athletes through pregnancy and motherhood. “I want to help women answer questions like ‘How do I deal with a diastasis?’, ‘How do I protect my core during pregnancy?’, ‘How do I stay in shape if I can’t be as active as I thought I’d be?’” she said.
The foundation will also provide financial support to pro athletes as well as women of other professions. Donations from fans and supporters can help cover childcare costs, among other expenses. Montaño recalled having had her funding pulled after she had her son in 2017. “Relying on my husband [financially] and trying to hire a sitter with money we didn’t have was really daunting,” she said.but also with the Dream Maternity Tour, which will let her audience tell their stories, too.
