It wreaked havoc in the area
across all but the most southerly parts of Derbyshire from 5pm on Monday, March 13, until 10am on Tuesday morning. A yellow weather warning for wind is in place for the southern part of the county until 6pm this evening which could cause"losses of power, damage to trees and delays for some vehicles and public transport," according to the Met Office.
Jenna Hammett said:"I heard it this morning, I had my bedroom window open and I’m not joking, it was rattling all my doors in my house! It was so weird!" Others in nearby villages and towns, including Buxton, also reported very strong, tornado-like winds lasting from a matter of seconds to five minutes. One person described it as being like"a fire hose at full blast aiming at your windows."
It comes after the Met Office issued a yellow warning for wind for the Midlands and the South of England. It lasts from 10am on Monday until 6pm. You can view photos of the tornado's wreckage below in photos from The Queen Anne pub, Great Hucklow, and surrounding roads.
