Bush in the Republican primary run-off election.Williamson County officials are suing Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, saying his legal opinion giving the public immediate access to anonymous, completed ballots after an election is unconstitutional.
The state's election code, in keeping with the Civil Rights Act of 1960, bars officials from releasing those records for 22-months after an election. But in an August opinion, Paxton wrote that the ballots are public information and can therefore be accessed during that preliminary period. His office did not immediately respond Friday to a request for comment on the litigation. The
