Latrell Wilson, 38, of Akron, was wanted on a homicide charge by the Akron Police Department.
AKRON, Ohio — A 38-year-old Akron man accused of the beating death of a 1-year-old child was arrested Tuesday by federal agents, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force took Latrell Wilson into custody while he was working at a business on the 2400 block of Romig Road in the Rolling Acres neighborhood. Wilson was wanted by Akron police on a warrant for homicide. Wilson is accused of the beating death of a 1-year-old child on Jan. 27 at a home on Edgewood Avenue in Akron. The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the child had suffered broken ribs, head trauma and “significant bruising.” The cause of death was either from smothering or from the physical beating, authorities say.“Killing a helpless and innocent child is a horrific crime,” U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said in a statement.
