Awesome job, James 👏
AKRON, Ohio – Each year on Oct. 14, Akron personal trainer James Anderson celebrates his sobriety anniversary by partaking in an intense physical challenge.
Being unable to complete the week-long hike to the mountain’s summit haunted Anderson for four years. In 2011, Anderson was arrested and charged with drug trafficking and was sentenced to 18 months in prison for violating probation. Though he remained clean in prison, after he was released he found himself using again and was arrested for felony drug possession in 2013.
“Working out helps build confidence, self-esteem, self-discipline and grit,” he said. “I also saw how fitness carried over into other areas of my life because it paralleled the recovery process – if you can change the way you think, your options change.”
