Los doctores en la zona de evacuación dijeron que no podían reubicar a sus pacientes a salvo, así que decidieron quedarse para atenderlos. “No vamos a evacuar el hospital, incluso si esto nos cuesta la vida”, dijo el doctor Hussam Abu Safiya, director de pediatría en el hospital Kama Adwan en la ciudad de Beit Lahia. Si ellos se van, los siete recién nacidos que se encuentran en la unidad de cuidados intensivos morirían, declaró.
