Study overturns conventional wisdom that alcohol makes other people seem more attractive
Participants were told that they may be given the opportunity to interact with one of those people in a future experiment. After providing attractiveness ratings, they were asked to select those with whom they would most like to interact.
While the researchers found no evidence for beer goggles, they did find that drinking affected how likely the men were to want to interact with people they found attractive. “It’s possible that similar patterns would be observed across genders, however, more research is needed to replicate this finding with men and to determine if it generalises across genders,” she said.
