Aldi has confirmed its Christmas and New Year opening hours
Aldi has announced that its stores will remain closed on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day this year, continuing its tradition of giving employees a break over the festive season. The stores are scheduled to welcome shoppers again on December 27.
With over 1,020 outlets and a workforce surpassing 45,000, Aldi is committed to employee well-being during the holidays. Richard Thornton, communications director at Aldi UK, said: "Christmas is such a special period for many of our colleagues, and by keeping our stores closed on Boxing Day, Aldi gives them more time to spend with their loved ones.
Exceptions include John Lewis stores in Trafford and Stratford shopping centres which are the only two to remain open on Boxing Day. Moreover, most Waitrose and John Lewis stores will close on New Year's Day as well, reports the Mirror. The retailer also revealed that stores will close earlier on Christmas Eve, shutting at 5pm instead of the usual 8pm or 9pm. This news follows Aldi's announcement of plans to open 23 new locations before the year ends – including in Muswell Hill, London and Mere Green, Birmingham as part of a £800million investment programme.
