Aldi is consistently voted the most popular supermarket chain in the UK
Supermarket giant Aldi is planning to open a brand new store on a piece of disused and 'derelict' land in Litherland after reaching an agreement with Sefton Council. Following the decision at the Bootle Town Hall cabinet meeting on Thursday July 25, further negotiations will need to take place between Sefton Council and Aldi , but if all goes to plan the store could be open by the end of 2025.
It would also mean additional jobs in the construction and development of the site which will be transformed by the project and bring some much needed regeneration to a deprived area. Aldi is one of the biggest supermarket chains in Europe, with stores across the UK and many in Merseyside. Reacting to the news, Councillor Paulette Lappin, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Economy and Skills at Sefton Council, said: “This is exactly the sort of move we as a council should be doing.
