Investigators revealed that blood was found on the steering wheel of former South Carolina legal giant Alex Murdaugh's car.

South Carolina Law Enforcement Division Agent Rachel Nguyen, who specializes in DNA analysis, testified that Murdaugh's Chevrolet Suburban had tested positive for blood, Fox News reported.

Murdaugh testified that on the night his wife and son were killed, he drove the vehicle to his mother's house and then drove it back to their hunting estate later that night, where he discovered the bodies."I used a confirmatory test called Hematrace," Nguyen said."On the steering wheel swab, it was positive, which is … of blood identified."

The defense argued that the blood could have been from Murdaugh checking his wife's dead body, then driving to another location to get a weapon, the Independent reported. The trial has had a number of problems, including the improper collection and retention of evidence. Murdaugh is accused of the murder of his wife and son in an attempt to cover up his alleged financial crimes, which were about to come to light. He is also being charged with 99 other financial crimes, totaling roughly $9 million.
