The cow kept sinking deeper into the mud, so an all-out rescue effort swung into action.
Humane officers and veterinarians were on the scene to tend to the cow. After her muddy, 12-hour ordeal, the cow was completely played out from standing and struggling so long.
So crews positioned the cowed cow to lay on her side as a veterinarian took over her care, KDKA reports, adding: Workers encircled her with a small temporary fence so she wouldn’t be disturbed. Then, she was tucked in and warmed up with blankets after all those hours stuck in the cold, wet mud. A detailed Facebook post from the animal response team, complete with cow-rescue photos, said in part: “We can assure you that the animal was treated humanely on scene and with the utmost care and concern for its welfare at all times by all responders on scene.”All’s well that ends well. At last report, the cleaned-up cow was mooing toward a complete recovery.
“We can assure you that the animal was treated humanely on scene and with the utmost care and concern for its welfare at all times by all responders on scene,” the response team said.
