The Liberal Democrats, Reform UK, Conservatives, Green Party, the Workers Party and Labour will contest this new seat at the general election
Voters across the country will go to the polls on July 4 for the first general election since 2019. The Labour Party is flying high in the polls, with many people expecting Keir Starmer to become Prime Minister.
This election will see a number of new constituencies contested for the first time, following a boundary review last year. The map now includes the new seat of Widnes and Halewood - a constituency which crosses the border of Merseyside and Cheshire, covering a number of towns and villages.
The Widnes and Halewood seat has been created from areas that were formerly part of the abolished Garston & Halewood and Halton constituencies. It also takes some of the Whiston and Cronton wards from the St Helens South and Whiston constituency. Derek Twigg, who represented Halton as an MP from 1997 to 2024, will be Labour's candidate for this new constituency now.
