The Labour Party Conference in Liverpool has now come to a close
The final day of Labour Party conference in Liverpool saw pledges on education and health as the proceedings drew to a close.
“We achieve more together than we achieve alone. So, with our sights raised, let us dare to glimpse the possibilities of the future, and with confidence and conviction, let’s go out and win.”Shadow health secretary made a number of pledges in his conference speech aimed at improving young people’s health, including banning junk food ads and starting breakfast clubs at more schools.
He said that Labour would deliver “two million more appointments a year to cut waiting lists, 700,000 more appointments with NHS dentists, mental health support in every school, mental health hubs in every community, double the number of scanners the biggest expansion of NHS staff in history”.
He said that the generation that sacrificed so much during the pandemic – their potential must be backed”. She pledged that a Labour government would bring in new protections for those who reported sexual harassment in the workplace, giving them the same status as whistleblowers.
