DVLA issues warning that people need to renew their licences and if they fail to flag up six conditions they will be breaking the law
Everyone who is getting to the age of 70 is being given an urgent warning - you need to renew your driving licence immediately. Failure to do so will invalidate insurance and mean the person is on the road unlawfully. In an update this week the DVLA took to X, formerly Twitter to say: 'You need to renew your licence when you turn 70. Do it online now – it’s easy, quick and secure.
And if you have a health condition or disability, you may have to have your driving ability assessed. 'It's a legal obligation for you to declare certain conditions to the DVLA. If you don't declare a medical condition that affects your driving, you could be fined. And if you have an accident where your health condition may have been a factor, your insurance might not cover you.' The DVLA via the government website offers the opportunity to apply direct online here .
