The talkSport favourite took exception to the Man united fan’s attitude and wasn't backing down from a final whistle confrontation.
Things got heated as a 35-goal thriller as the talkSport Trophy ended with Ally McCoist and Olly Murs almost coming to BLOWS.
The radio station pitted a All Stars team against its Breakfast line-up, and it was McCoist's early risers who edged a ridiculously high scoring game 18-17 against their opponents, coached by former West Ham and Newcastle boss Alan Pardew and singer Murs. The latter actually brought himself on to take a crucial penalty, but missed and it proved costly come full-time as he ended up on the losing side.
McCoist had been less than impressed with Murs’ trash talk during the game, and he made a beeline for McCoist after the whistle. The Rangers legend wasn't ever going to back down though, and was more than happy to step to Murs, savagely reminding him of his failure from 12 yards, which didn't improve the Man Utd fan's mood. The scenes were reminiscent of McCoist's infamous touchline spat with Celtic opposite number Neil Lennon after a fiery Scottish Cup replay back in 2011.
McCoist was all smiles soon after, suggesting there is no lingering beef between the pair.He explained: "The game was settled by an Olly Murs missed penalty - who’d have thought that? I thought some of his comments during the game were ridiculous, he came over and wanted some confrontation and he got it. I reminded him about the missed penalty and he didn’t take it too well."
Murs himself admitted: “I’ll take responsibility, I came on, took a penalty and thought I was making talkSPORT history."
