The week long trip which has been branded 'mad' would see the family fly into Newcastle Airport before stopping in Glasgow, Edinburgh, the Lake District, Cornwall and London.
An American family who have never left the US have left Scots baffled with their ambitious plans to visit Glasgow alongside a host of other locations across the UK in a seven-day holiday.
The Mirror reports that the couple took to the UK travel forum on Reddit to explain their ambitious plans which would see them begin with a 72-mile drive to Penrith in Wales which takes around 90 minutes. On the first day they say they will "shop for incidentals" before driving an hour to the Lake District and having a relaxed day enjoying the area.
The 116-mile trip from Penrith to Glasgow would take just under two hours with an extra hour and 15 minutes if the family decide to to go to the capital. From there they would still need to travel two and a half hours back to Penrith It is unclear from their plans if they plan on spending any time at any of the sights as they will have a half-hour drive to the train station from Polperro, followed by a journey of almost four and a half hours from Liskeard to London. Following this they plan on taking a four and a half hour train back to Penrith.
Reddit users took to the comments to discuss the travel plans with many calling it mad. One user wrote: "The only thing you're going to see with that itinerary is the inside of your hire car. The mum seems to have taken the reaction to the post in good spirts, writing: "Thank you for everyone who took the time to share their thoughts. So many cautions about driving conditions, I'm definitely considering that as a bigger impediment.
